Make no bones about it...

Brian Ferry March 2012

We are very excited about our potential collaborations with Dr. James Adovasio and Dr. Andy Hemmings from Mercyhurst University and OVIASC on the Old Vero Man dig.

Using our Ancient DNA lab, we hope to be able to help Dr. Hemmings and his incredible team by providing genetic information from their specimens. Genetics has the potential to bridge gaps and contribute to the overall knowledge of the specimen, therefore presenting a more well rounded story about the individual. Looking at ancient DNA can allow us to essentally time travel, informing us about who the individual was in addition to what they were doing.

Stay tuned...

Currently, the site contains approximately 170 species of identified plants and animals that have been collected over the last 100 years, including extinct mega-fauna such as mammoths, giant saber-tooth tigers, and giant ground sloths!

We can't divulge too many secrets during the planning stages... BUT - check back with us frequently, as we will be updating our site with new details as soon as we can!

We will post about all the exciting things happening in the aDNA lab (and in our molecular ecology lab) on the                      , so be sure to save that page in your favorites!
